About Sandra VanSickle
Hey Y’all!
I’m Sandra VanSickle, also known as Sandra V in the window fashion industry. I am living my dream, and I am on a mission to inspire, educate and promote others – whether you are a seasoned professional expanding your knowledge or you want to make beautiful soft home furnishings for your own home, you’ve come to the right place. Along the way, I will invite other creative entrepreneurs to share their expertise with you, too. Together the journey will be inspiring, encouraging and amazing.
For more than 40 years, I have been the proud owner of Sew What’s New, LLC which is a wholesale custom home furnishings workroom in Apex, North Carolina. Over the years I also have used my knowledge and experience in fabric, design, fabrication and training to teach custom drapery methods at national and international conferences. I realized I LOVE TEACHING. But, window covering conferences are only a few times a year, and not everyone can afford the travel, the baby sitter or the time to attend these conferences. That’s when I had my EUREKA! moment and realized that if I combine my love of teaching with my savvy technology skills, I can do LIVE ONLINE TRAINING. (Cue the confetti!) I get to reach MORE people, MORE often and YOU get to save the airfare, hotel and other expenses of traveling to conferences. YOU get to learn in the comfort of your home (and yoga pants). Ahhhh! You get to watch and create in real time with the instructor. And, since it’s live, all questions and interactions are immediate. Classes are recorded so you can review any part of the class again – that’s something you can’t do in a live workshop. Sounds pretty awesome, right?!

Fun Sandra V Facts
My celebrity crush is Elvis.
My most rewarding professional experience was having my work recognized by Edward Walker, former designer on Trading Spaces. He noticed all the details and fine workmanship that were put into the window treatments I designed for a local Show Home. We bonded over design, and we became instant friends! He helped me redesign my own kitchen in 2017.
I was a majorette and cheerleader in high school.
My favorite movie is On Golden Pond.
I love the color blue.
My favorite vacation spot is Nassau, Bahamas.
I have travelled the world and there is no where I’d rather live than North Carolina.
If I weren’t doing this job, I would be a fashion designer.
My favorite music is Oldies, but I do love Meghan Trainor (especially All About That Bass).
I love Southern food; despise raw seafood.
I enjoy teaching my grandkids how to sew, and love vacationing with them.
I’ll choose sweet over salty any day.
